Childhood dreams come true in a waltz with the perfect Disney dance partner

Brief

We were trusted to deliver thrilling experiences to increase footfall into the Microsoft retail stores. Find new ways to engage customers and successfully transfer the customer relationship from the physical to the digital channel after each visit.

Solution

Working for the Microsoft Store retail team in partnership with Disney, we conceived an augmented reality experience around the live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic Beauty and the Beast.

Customers were given a unique opportunity to waltz with the Beast in store, see the characters of Chips, Mrs Potts and Lumière come to life around them, popping out from screens – digital characters existing in physical spaces – followed up with a variety of digital magical encounters at home.

Results

Together, we developed an end-to-end experience design that generated an undeniable buzz, capturing people’s imaginations in new ways and bringing unprecedented levels of excited customers into the Microsoft stores. Through mobile apps and social engagement, the experience extended beyond the event into a seamless digital continuation at home.

Throughout the retail stores network, the campaign and experience outperformed any previous activation.

Footfall increase: 1.2m 

Digital character encounters: 1m 

Average daily use in store: 7,900 

Net promoter score (NPS): 90.5% 

NPS increase: 6.4%
